September 2004

Spring Festival Events

The spring festival runs from 18 September to 2 October 2004. The Sanctuary, in partnership with Wellington Botanic Garden, Otari-Wilton’s Bush, Carter Observatory, Cable Car Museum and Skyline Restaurant are holding a number of events over this period. Here’s what’s happening at the Sanctuary:

Spring Sketchings - Saturday 18 September 2004

Kaka sketches

Sketch or paint a kaka

Do you like to draw or paint? Come along and be inspired by the Sanctuary’s special surroundings. Sketch a kaka or paint a watercolour of a weka. Anyone of any age can take part. It doesn’t matter whether you’re an art expert or just a beginner.

There will be workshops to get you started with ideas on what to draw and how to draw. The best entries will win prizes! Open 10am to 5pm with workshops between 11am and 3pm. To register, please complete this registration form and send it in to the Sanctuary.

We are delighted to announce that the following acclaimeded artists will be leading workshops. Between 11am and 3pm (commencing on the hour) artists will lead workshops in their particular area of interest. The artists will impart helpful tips and perhaps even demonstrate their tips via a piece of art that they complete during the day. We envisage each workshop taking 45 minutes but this is at the discretion of the artist. The workshops will take place at various locations in the Sanctuary - see below table for more details as well as this news release.
