April 2007

Sanctuary street collection nets over $12,000

Our second annual street appeal on Wednesday 4 April raised over $12,000 for ecological restoration work at the Sanctuary - $4,000 more than last year’s collection!

We would like to say a big thank you to the 150 volunteers who helped us to collect and bank the money. We are also extremely grateful to all the businesses that helped us out on the day, and especially Westpac in Karori, whose staff helped to count and bank over 200 buckets! And finally, we would like to thank the thousands of Wellingtonians who donated on the day, or pledged money via our new 0900 donation line.

It's still not too late to donate by text. To make an automatic donation of $3, simply text the word SANCTUARY to 883.

We're a finalist in the Gold Awards!

We’re delighted to be announced as finalists in two categories in The Dominion Post Gold Awards 2007. The categories are:

1) Vibrant Gold - spotlighting excellence in facilities that help enliven our community and draw visitors to our region. Other finalists include Kapiti Island Alive, La Bella Italia Distributors and Wellington International Airport.

2) Green Gold – paying special tribute to those businesses with positive sustainable practices and programmes. Other finalists include Envirocars Ltd, Poly Palace and The Wellington Company.

The winners of the Gold Awards will be announced at a gala dinner at the TSB Arena on Wednesday 9 May. For further information visit www.goldawards.co.nz or call 04 384 6417 to purchase tickets. Please keep your fingers crossed for us!
