Make a Donation - Support an Appeal

The Karori Wildlife Sanctuary Trust is a charitable non-profit trust that depends on the generosity of the community to achieve its vision of establishing a native wildlife sanctuary in the heart of New Zealand's capital city.

Time is on our side...
...but we need you on our side too!

Our plan for the careful restoration of the Sanctuary’s native flora will take time – 500 years in fact! But did you know that we’ve already returned 25 locally extinct plant species to grow and thrive in the Sanctuary?

Our staff and volunteers are working year round behind the scenes: potting; planting; watering and weeding; to nurture the Sanctuary valley back to its former glory. Fence maintenance and pest monitoring also play an important, and expensive, part in our ongoing battle to save iconic species such as Rata, Fuchsia, Milktree and Nikau. This challenge is not an easy one but, with your support and our careful and consistent management of flora restoration, it is a challenge we are confident of winning.

If you would like to support this vital work to restore the Sanctuary to its former glory, please complete the appeal form and post (no stamp required) to: Karori Wildlife Sanctuary, Freepost 116504, PO Box 9267, Wellington.

Celebrating 10 years of hard work and great success

Slow rise sculpture
Slow Rise

To celebrate our 10th birthday we are running a special fundraising initiative and we hope to raise in excess of $50,000 to continue our vital restoration work. A small amount of the money raised will also go towards the production of a bronze sculpture. This will remain in the Sanctuary grounds for many years to come, to commemorate the wonderful successes over the past 10 years.

Well known local artist Jonathan Campbell, a keen supporter of the Sanctuary, is donating his time and energy to create the beautiful piece called “Slow Rise.” The sculpture will stand approximately 2 metres tall and will be sited in the Sanctuary for visitors to enjoy for years to come.

As ever, every cent counts so whatever you are able to donate will be greatly appreciated. If you would like to donate please complete and return the appeal form.
