The Karori Sanctuary is an outdoor facility so please ensure that EVERYONE (adults and students) in your group has dressed appropriately for the conditions. However, we recommend that all groups use the toilets prior to the commencement of their programme. Can we purchase lunch?NO! - a packed lunch and drink are essential. Only minimal snacks and drinks can be purchased. Where can my class have lunch? There are a number of suitable picnic areas within the valley. If the weather is particularly unsuitable an indoor space may be available. What do we do with our rubbish?
Karori Sanctuary has a policy of ‘Carry Out what you Carry In’. We suggest teachers bring a couple of plastic bags to collect students' rubbish in. How many accompanying adults should I bring?
Students gain the most out of any LEOTC visit when they work in small, well supervised groups. The Karori Sanctuary
has a minimum supervision requirement of 1 ADULT to 5 STUDENTS. Schools are requested to meet this ratio at all times. Is there any supporting resource material?Yes! Resource material can be provided free of charge to classes who book for specific Karori Sanctuary education programmes. We strongly recommend teachers utilise this material as it is designed to complement and strengthen students learning experiences. Teachers are asked on the booking form if they would prefer to receive material in the post or to download it from our web site. If you have any problems receiving material in either format please contact us as soon as possible. Are there any special events we could attend? There are often exciting and interesting things for you to see in the Karori Sanctuary that we may not know about prior to your visit. Please read the ‘Today in the Valley’ board before you set out. What do we do when we get there? Please plan to arrive at Karori Sanctuary at least 15 minutes prior to the start of your scheduled programme. This will allow ample time to process your payment, check bags and toilet students before you set off. Map
