Help us with our Annual Appeal and Street Collection.

Our Annual Appeal Week is taking place from 1-7 February 2010 and we need YOUR help.

Our Annual Appeal is a great opportunity for Karori Sanctuary Trust to be seen around Wellington and raise much needed funds at the same time.  It costs the Trust $2.2 million to operate each year to manage our conservation, research and education programmes. Last year, our Appeal raised over $26,000!

There are opportunities to get involved in the following roles:

Appeal Co-ordinator

Tell me more... This key role involves managing the overall organisation of the Appeal, with the help of a small Liaison team and the Trust’s Sales & Marketing Manager. You will be the main point of contact and key to making our Annual Appeal happen!

Skills & experience: Ideally, this role will suit someone who is recently retired and looking for a new challenge to see the fundraiser through until the end of February 2010. Experience in project or event management; working with people and managing staff; computer literacy (MS Word and Excel) and excellent communication skills are prefered.

Appeal Volunteer Liaison

Tell me more... You will be helping to co-ordinate collection sites; find and roster volunteers; and manage the site on the day.  You will be a point of contact for your site collectors and ensure they receive the information needed. You could even organise a team of collectors from your workplace or social club.

Skills & experience: Ideally you will be well-organised, methodical, approachable, like dealing with people, computer literate, and have an eye for detail.  Most of this work can be carried out from home, with occasional catch up meetings at our Trust office (based in Karori).

Appeal Collectors

Tell me more... You will be the people on the streets! Friday 5 February is our main street collection day in Wellington City, so we need collectors at key points from the Railway Station to Manners Mall. However, from 3 February until 6 February 2010 we will also be collecting in shopping malls and supermarket sites around Wellington City, Porirua and Petone.

Branded buckets and bibs will be provided. Just tell us when and where you'd like to collect and we'll put you on the roster. Even just an hour before work or during your lunch break will be a huge help. Why not get together a team from work, or challenge another team to a 'collect-off'?

Skills & experience: If you are reliable, honest, friendly and approachable, and you can help collect for an hour or more on any of these dates, this is the perfect role for you!

Please contact Kathy Luke or Diana Dobbinson for more details, telephone 04 920 9200 or email us. And please do pass this message on to your family, friends, neighbours and colleagues, every person collecting a gold coin counts!
