OK, they aren’t exactly cute or fluffy. They don’t come with a badge or bumper sticker and they won’t write you letters at Christmas. But conservation is about more than that, right?
A very special fence
The 8.6km (5 mile) pest-proof fence here at ZEALANDIA was the first of its kind anywhere in the world. Designed to exclude the 14 worst offenders, it has been a massive breakthrough in our ability to return some of our rarest bird and reptile species to a wild state on the mainland.
Already, tuatara, little spotted kiwi, saddleback and a host of other animals have been re-introduced – the first time these species have roamed free on the mainland for over 100 years! Exceeding all expectations in just its first 10 years, it has inspired at least 14 other fenced projects around the country. Even the Aussies are taking notice! Find out more about our fence here.

For just $100 you can select your very own personal fence post from those available. To acknowledge your support, a commemorative plaque, with an inscription of your choice, will be placed on your fence post.
